Article 1 – Definitions
In this Cookie Policy, the following terms shall have the meanings set out below:
EMT: Epic Motor Trading, trading name of Instaal, operator of the online auction platform
Platform: The website www.epicmotortrading.com and all related digital applications
Cookie: A small text file placed on your computer, tablet or mobile phone by a website when you visit it
First-party cookies: Cookies placed by EMT itself
Third-party cookies: Cookies placed by external service providers (such as Stripe, Google Analytics)
Session cookies: Cookies that are deleted when you close your browser
Persistent cookies: Cookies that remain on your device for a longer period until they expire or you delete them manually
GDPR: General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679
Electronic Communications Law: Belgian Law of 13 June 2005 on electronic communications (Article 129)
Article 2 – What are cookies?
2.1. Cookies are small text files placed on your computer, tablet or mobile phone by a website when you visit it.
2.2. Cookies contain information used by the website to:
- Recognize you on a subsequent visit
- Remember your preferences (such as language or login details)
- Improve the usability of the website
- Collect statistics about visitor behavior
- Display personalized advertisements
2.3. Cookies are not harmful to your computer, tablet or mobile phone. They cannot spread viruses or access other files on your device.
2.4. In addition to cookies, similar technologies may be used, such as:

Article 3 – Which cookies does EMT use?
3.1. EMT uses four categories of cookies:

3.2. Upon your first visit to the Platform, a cookie banner is displayed allowing you to:

- Set your preferences per category
3.3. Your consent is recorded and stored for 12 months. After 12 months, consent will be requested again.
Article 4 – Strictly necessary cookies (no consent required)
4.1. Strictly necessary cookies are essential for the functioning of the Platform. These cookies cannot be disabled because the Platform would not function properly without them.
4.2. EMT uses the following strictly necessary cookies:

4.3. No consent is requested for these cookies because they are necessary for the functioning of the Platform. You cannot disable these cookies via the cookie banner. You can disable them via your browser settings, but the Platform may not function correctly.
Article 5 – Functional cookies (consent required)
5.1. Functional cookies remember your choices and preferences to provide you with a better user experience on the Platform.
5.2. EMT uses the following functional cookies:

5.3. You can refuse these cookies via the cookie banner. If you refuse these cookies, certain functionalities (such as remembering your language choice) may not be available.
Article 6 – Analytical cookies (consent required)
6.1. Analytical cookies collect anonymous information about how visitors use the Platform. This information helps EMT improve the Platform.
6.2. EMT uses the following analytical cookies:

6.3. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity are configured to:
- Anonymize IP addresses (the last octet is removed)
- Not share data with other Google services
- Limit data processing to statistical purposes
6.4. You can refuse these cookies via the cookie banner. If you refuse these cookies, EMT cannot collect statistics about the use of the Platform.
Article 7 – Marketing cookies (consent required)
7.1. Marketing cookies are used to display personalized advertisements based on your behavior on the Platform and to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns.
7.2. EMT uses the following marketing cookies:

7.3. These cookies may track your behavior across different websites.
7.4. You can refuse these cookies via the cookie banner. If you refuse these cookies, no personalized advertisements will be displayed. You will still see non-personalized advertisements.
Article 8 – Third-party cookies
8.1. EMT uses services from third parties that place cookies. EMT has no direct control over these, but has concluded data processing agreements with these third parties.
8.2. The following third parties place cookies through the Platform:

8.3. Third-party cookies are subject to the same categorization as above (strictly necessary, functional, analytical, marketing). You can refuse these cookies via EMT's cookie banner. Additionally, you can disable third-party cookies directly through the relevant third party's website.
Article 9 – Retention periods
9.1. EMT applies the following retention periods for cookies:

Marketing cookies Maximum 24 months
9.2. After the retention period expires, cookies are automatically deleted by your browser. Upon a subsequent visit, new cookies may be placed, for which consent will be requested again.
9.3. You can also delete cookies manually via your browser settings (see Article 11).
Article 10 – Consent and withdrawal
10.1. Upon your first visit to the Platform, a cookie banner is displayed. This banner contains:
- A brief explanation of the use of cookies
- The option to accept all cookies
- The option to accept only strictly necessary cookies (reject others)
- A link to "Set preferences" where you can choose per category
- A link to this full Cookie Policy
10.2. Your consent is recorded in a cookie (cookie_consent) with a retention period of 12 months. After 12 months, consent will be requested again.
10.3. You can withdraw your consent at any time via:
- The "Cookie preferences" link in the footer of the website
- The cookie settings in your dashboard (if logged in)
- Disabling cookies in your browser (see Article 11)
10.4. Withdrawing your consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on your consent before withdrawal.

11.3. Please note that disabling cookies may lead to reduced functionality of the Platform. Some features (such as logging in, bidding, payments) may no longer be available.
Article 12 – Changes to this Cookie Policy
12.1. EMT reserves the right to amend this Cookie Policy from time to time. Changes may result from:
- Amendments to laws or regulations
- Changes in the functionality of the Platform
- Changes in the third-party services used
12.2. The most recent version of the Cookie Policy is always available on the Platform via the link in the footer.
12.3. In the event of material changes, EMT will display a notice on the Platform or inform users by email (if registered).
12.4. By continuing to use the Platform after a change, you accept the amended Cookie Policy.

Closing provision
This Cookie Policy is an integral part of the General Terms and Conditions and the Privacy Policy of Epic Motor Trading. By using the Platform, the User agrees to the processing of their personal data through cookies as described in this policy.
If any provision of this Cookie Policy is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be replaced by a valid provision that approximates the intent of the original provision as closely as possible.
