How Epic Motor Trading Protects You
- Payment for a winning bid is always made through Epic Motor Trading's own secure checkout (Stripe) - you never need to send money directly to a seller to complete a purchase.
- Never pay a seller directly by bank transfer, cash, Western Union, MoneyGram or any other method outside the Platform, even if a seller says this will "save on fees" - this is one of the most common tactics used by fraudsters.
- Epic Motor Trading will never ask you for your password, full card number, card expiry date or CVV code by phone or email.
- If you receive a suspicious call, email or message claiming to be from Epic Motor Trading, do not respond with any personal information - contact us directly at info@epicmotortrading.com to verify it.
Ten Tips to Avoid Fraud
Follow these guidelines whenever you buy or sell a vehicle.
Never share personal or payment details
Never share your password, full card number, card expiry date or CVV code by phone or email. If you are selling a vehicle and a buyer needs your account details, it is safe to share your account number and IBAN - never your full card details.
Always inspect a vehicle before you bid
Where possible, view a vehicle in person before bidding or paying. If that is not possible, ask someone you trust to view it, have an independent specialist inspect it, or ask for a video call walkthrough. Be cautious if a seller resists a viewing.
Be alert to unexpected contact
Be cautious of unexpected calls, emails or messages, even if the stated reason seems reasonable. Epic Motor Trading only ever emails from addresses ending in @epicmotortrading.com.
Be wary of false urgency
Do not let yourself be pressured by claims of high interest or multiple other buyers. Trust your instinct - you always have the right to slow down or stop a transaction that feels rushed.
Check the vehicle's history
Always ask for the full service history and documentation. Have an independent specialist or approved inspection centre check the vehicle before you buy - the cost is small compared to the risk of a fraudulent purchase.
Verify the documentation
Check the vehicle identification number (VIN) and engine/frame number, usually stamped into the chassis, against the registration and inspection documents. Also check the seller's identity matches the registration document.
Verify who you are speaking to
Be cautious of email addresses that closely resemble an official address but with extra characters or a different spelling. If someone calls claiming to represent a company, hang up and call back using the official number from their real website.
Be cautious of a bargain
If a price seems far too good to be true, it probably is. Compare it against similar vehicles of the same make, model, year and mileage. An unusually low price can mean the seller isn't genuine or doesn't own the vehicle.
Only ever pay through Epic Motor Trading
Always complete your purchase through the Platform's own secure checkout. Never send money directly to a seller by bank transfer, cash, cheque or an anonymous transfer service such as Western Union or MoneyGram.
You can never be too careful
Never worry about asking extra questions - a genuine buyer or seller will have no problem with this. If something about a transaction feels wrong, stop and contact us.
Recognise the Warning Signs
- The price is noticeably lower than comparable vehicles
- The seller refuses a viewing or won't provide additional photos
- You are pressured to pay quickly, especially outside the Platform
- The documents don't match the vehicle
- The seller is difficult to reach or communicates only by email
- You are asked to pay a seller directly to "save on fees"
